TOMO HIRATA

Tomo Hirata is the true pioneer of Japnese EDM scene.He debuted as TOMOAKI from HOOJ CHOONS,UK in 1990 and brought UK-style club scene over to Japan.Since then,he has been working hard to spread the madness of UK/Euro ravers.In recent years he is so much into EDM and plays DJ regularly at EDMS(Japan’s first big EDM party) and has own EDM radio show on Japan’s most popular dance station BlockFM.His EDM tracks released on his own label ‘EDMF’ reached No.15 & No.17 on beatport’s ELECTRO HOUSE THIS WEEK RELEASE chart in 2013.In 2014,he released ‘Taiko’ from French DJ Center Records and it reached No.27 in beatport’s Electro House chart supported by Laidback Luke,Sidney Samson,Quentin Mosimann and so on.He also hosts TOKYO EDM TV and introduces hot new releases and young talents every weekdays 2200-2300.

Tomo Hirata’s History
1990 debuted as TOMOAKI on HOOJ CHOONS,UK

1992 started the residency at CLUB VENUS and played with many top djs including Paul Oakenfold,Danny Rampling,Carl Cox,Richie Hawtin,etc.

1995 started own party ‘X-tra’ at one of the biggest venue in Tokyo and gathered around 1000 people monthly till 2000.

1998 ‘feels like HEAVEN’ ranked in Japanese Pop Chart.

1998-2002 compiled 13 compilations which covered Trance,House,and Big Beat.

2005 released ‘Paranoid’ in Raja Ram’s Stash Bag. This was the first Japanese track picked up by UK’s No.1 Psy-Trance label Tip.

2009 changed style to Electro House and started working with Japanese No.1 DJ,Shinichi Osawa,made 4 tracks with him including 2012′s SPANKICK as SHINICHI OSAWA + TOMO HIRATA.

2011 started radio programme called ‘EDM Essentials’ on internet radio station BLOCK.FM.

2012 started the residency of EDM states party at ageHa ARENA and also a series of compilation ‘Electronic Dance Madness’ on EMI.

2013 started the residency of EDMF at AIR,EDMD at DOUBLE TOKYO and also the first Japanese EDM label ‘EDMF’.The label’s release including Tomo’s own one,all reached inside top 20 of beatport’s Electro House/Progressive House weekly chart.

2014 started residency of HAMELN at module.

2014 released ‘Taiko’ on French DJ Center records.
